TiVoed the roller derby episode of Geek to Freak, where Dennis Rodman helps transform a geek. Turns out, the episode featured my girls in the Dallas Derby Devils.

Yep, it still stings. Makes me question my choices. I'm not unhappy with what I'm doing—far from it. But why couldn't I do both? Why did I have to choose? Sure, days are finite, as is energy and all that crap... but right now I don't care.

I should have been out there. I helped build that organization from the ground up. I am so disappointed in myself. I should have pushed harder when I had the chance.

I miss my girls. I miss skating. I miss the whole ugly, sweaty, drama-ridden experience.

Even though I'm no longer skating, I will be there to support my girls (and the league to which I've dedicated so much time and sweat -- though fortunately not so much with the blood).

I've already posted the scoop @ MySpace, so here's the info ('cuz I have no clue how to set up an RSS feed).

This will be the best bout of the season, no doubt. Besides, QAL is doing the National Anthem, then I'll be re-joining [livejournal.com profile] meatpie on the mic as co-announcer. Come on out!

... is apparently "not to derby."

I hate it. I know it's the right thing. But I hate it.

Anyone here just for derby... let the unfriending begin! )

It breaks my heart because I was around since the beginning. Hell, I named the High Seas Hotties. But because I love my girls and want what's best for them, I have to admit that I am not it.

So... who wants to join me in a rousing chorus of "I Hate Being a Grownup?"

In the meantime, help me decide what I should call myself NOW! (I know, I know... identity crisis much?)

[Poll #794124]

LATE EDIT: [livejournal.com profile] lucifershalo, you killded me! Seriously. Darn text limits! LOL

And [livejournal.com profile] budrospadre, would that make me your property? It's not a problem... just clarifying.. ;-)

Brief highlights include:

  • Bad movie night with [livejournal.com profile] arbiter_of_cool and company (hooray tasty Dolphness!)
  • Baby blessing for Rhynn Josephine, new daughter of [livejournal.com profile] trotfox and [livejournal.com profile] redwing
  • Insightful readings from [livejournal.com profile] kangitanka3, followed by an uber-fab evening at the Velvet Hookah thanks to quick thinking from [livejournal.com profile] thebb73
  • More spontaneous silliness at House of Doors with Arbiter and friends (sounding a bit like a variety show now, innit?)
  • Solo skating outing at Interskate (didn't suck)

The baby blessing was beautiful, as expected. I'm pleased and proud to have been a part. Unfortunately, one of the downsides to the weekend was a sinus headache that still lingers. Being outdoors didn't help, and I was too shagged out to head to Westfest, the annual gathering with [livejournal.com profile] olannon and [livejournal.com profile] nyxia. (Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] unclesiko, I was looking forward to getting beered by you.) Instead, there were drugs and naps.

As mentioned, the Velvet Hookah was quite the experience. I had been to the Deep Ellum location years ago, and was thrilled when [livejournal.com profile] thebb73 reminded me of the Addison location. I liked it better. Lush decor, decadent food (I tried the unfortunately named Beef Curtains and was quite pleased--[livejournal.com profile] kangitanka3 even had some!) hypnotic, eastern-flavored trance music and a scrummy hookah. We tried Strawberry Fields and were most pleased. Sadly, [livejournal.com profile] bookwench, [livejournal.com profile] fakefriar and [livejournal.com profile] jojo_qtpie weren't able to join us as the dress code prohibits flip-flops (honestly, I'm not a sandal-hater)!

Worked from home yesterday, as I ordered a lateral file cabinet from Office Depot--matches my desk and rolling file cabinet, w00t!--and apparently I had to sign for delivery. He arrived around 3:30pm. If I knew it would be that late, I'd have snuck out for a pedicure! After I post, I plan to put the thing together. Icky but ultimately gratifying, in an anal, organizey sort of way.

Last night was the Flying Saucer to send [livejournal.com profile] firestarter333 off to Austria to continue his operatic education. I think there's a direct proportion of beer & happiness in my world. --especially beer consumed with friends.

Tonight? The Hotties have a fundraiser for the City of Bedford. Should be OK. Hottie time is always fun, and we need the money to buy more swag.

With that, I've delayed long enough. Time to attack the file-building. Hooray for cordless drills!

NOTE TO SELF: Before you attempt to use a cordless tool that hasn't been used in awhile, it helps to charge it first. D'Oh!

Got a couple nudges, so here I am. The highlights of late:

  • Survived faire
  • Work is uber-busy
  • Derby PR is a full-time job/beat down
  • No time to skate due to the above

To sum up, I am crispy. Taking steps to remedy that and (hopefully) ensure I don't end up there again... at least not for the same reasons. *headdesk*

And because I think my pea-brain recalled someone asking, here's pics of the bedroom stuff I'm selling behind the usual courtesy cut )

And with that, work (and breakfast) beckons. Love to all.

Tune in to 102.1 KDGE this afternoon at 4pm! Yours truly will be accompanying Rumblin' Rose on the air with Diva Radio. We only have a few minutes, but any time with Jessie is always a hoot and a holler.

For non-locals who may be interested, I believe the station does streaming radio: http://www.kdge.com

Looks like my mutant healing powers were thwarted. I am chilled.

    Yes. Amy = cold.

Start scanning the skies for horsemen, or fork over some meds. It's either a catastrophic event or I'm running a low-grade fever.

Sadly, I think it's the latter as my whole body aches.

Sadder still, I have derby practice tonight. If I miss, I'm in jeopardy of missing the April bout. To fix it, I need to coordinate a personal session with Razen Kane. For any of you who have seen her skate, you know this will result in a whole different kind of aching (provided I survive). See, she couldn't decide on us or the Dallas Diamonds (women's football) and she used to be a personal trainer.

    Oy.

I hear my mattress calling me... or is that the pillowcase besmirched by [livejournal.com profile] budrospadre? Give me enough Sudafed and I may not know the difference.

    Buh. BYE.
