Just got [livejournal.com profile] arbiter_of_cool and myself tickets for the 7pm showing at AMC Valley View on Thursday, July 16th.

We plan to be in line about an hour early so that we can get decent seats. Come on along!

  • "Just 'Cuz" gifties rock my sock drawer. Mom was in town for book club, and took advantage of big city amenities (like shopping someplace other than Wal-Mart). Coldwater Creek was giving away a lovely abalone shell bracelet with purchase and apparently it had my name all over it.

  • Cooking is much easier with a sous chef. Though I hated to put him to work on his birthday, I'm glad [livejournal.com profile] arbiter_of_cool was able to help... mainly 'cuz it meant eating at a reasonable hour! The Italian Chicken Pot Pie recipe isn't fiddly, but there is a good bit of veg to chop and chicken to shred. Having that done while I'm working on the sauce? Fab. We make a good team. :-)

  • Shared the above-mentioned culinary endeavors with the household at House of Doors. [livejournal.com profile] antmanx said I'm like Mary Poppins, which made me giggle an inordinate amount (almost as much as at the bad dialogue in "Beowulf and Grendel," which I wanted so desperately to like).

  • [livejournal.com profile] unclesiko, you were the rightest of the right. "Hot Fuzz" was HIGH-larious. What a great flick! Loved the plot twists. We both giggled. A lot.

  • Beginning the downhill slide for the end of faire season. This is a ticklish time, as we're not quite close enough to the finish to hit that runner's high. Hopefully the weather will cooperate to give us a bit of a lift (or at least not be a total beat down).

  • Having fun working up new versions of "The Chandler's Wife." We always try to include a couple in the Annual All Chandler's Wife Show, and this year will be no exception. The Random Sci-Fi Quotes version went over much better with some set-up. Our audiences are so well trained that we confused them when we debuted it at last year's show. They were looking for continuity within a particular film and we lost them. The set-up made all the difference. Am getting excited about new versions. Last week's debut went well—extra yay 'cuz it was my suggestion!—and there's more where that came from!

This weekend was hermity for me. Had a headache orbiting around and the meds left me feeling a bit loopy and unfit for company. Boo to missing the Scorpio Party, B-Day stuff for [livejournal.com profile] lys1022 and [livejournal.com profile] creektoad's wedding stuffus... but I really needed the down time.

Managed to get most of my photographs hung, and get a few more things organized. Did some reading. Anyone familiar with Dan Simmons? Carrion Comfort is one of creepier, more unusual vampire stories I've read. His other works are quite diverse, and I am enjoying them (including Ilium, Hyperion, and its sequel Fall of Hyperion).

Watched a few movies, including "The Irrefutable Truth About Demons" (mostly for the Karl Urban hawtness *slurp*), and "I ♥ Huckabees." Ye gods was that funneh. Thought about [livejournal.com profile] minirth specifically. Hoffman and Tomlin as existential detectives? Brilliant. Check it out!

Leaving early today so my work digs can get moved. Mom is in town, so she's taking me to dinner. w00t!
