Well poop.
Finally got the nod from Verizon Friday that my DSL at home is working. However, it's still just "in theory" as I had no luck getting my system to start up. I wondered if I hadn't hooked up something wrong when I reassembled, but it would get to the Compaq logo and not move.

meatpie, my TechnoBailout Guy, just confirmed it's a motherboard issue. Well fuckity.
Given moving expenses and the probability of another new bodice needed (helloooooo Moresca!!!) for TRF in early October, I don't see a new computer in my future... particularly since I've just spent the last 3-4 years mostly successfully paying down all my debt (only 1 card left; balance < $1000 which is kind of like trying to lose that last 5 pounds, sheesh)!
Verizon email hasn't worked since August 18th. Haven't had home internet access (no hotmail, Gmail, MySpace, nada!) since August 26th. Finally got the new phone jacks installed Saturday - repairman showed up at 4pm when I was trying to get ready for Lacy's wedding. (He was supposed to be there between 2-4pm Friday, but whatever.)
Yeah, I'm pretty much over this whole thing.
I know, I know. Small in the scheme of things. But since I can't control or appreciably affect other events, I'ma bitch about this. Because I can.
Oodles of thanks to 'Pie, who will endeavor to build me FrankenPuter from the detritus of his considerable cache. It may not be the most elegant solution, but it's infinitely better than no solution. Tanks, mon.

I am unsure whether it currently has a processor on it or not, but I think no.
It was replaced with an identical board, but it turned out the real problem was the RAM, not the board.
So, it's a spare, and yours if you want it.
I can't quote the specs off the top of my head, but it's not bleeding-edge current, more like 1.x GHz, from a year ago or so.
