sandmansister: (Grrr heart)
I'm damaged goods. We were doing "Blood and Thunder" at practice last night, a drill which is basically using sanctioned checks/hits to weed everyone out. The goal is to be the last girl standing. I fared pretty well. Out of 12 girls, I was #8 to fall out. One of the captains even told me I was gonna be hard to take down.

But once I went, it was pretty spectacular. I must have taken a bit of a jostle from behind as I don't remember seeing anyone beside me (which isn't legal, but whatever) and I couldn't catch myself to fall forward. My left knee sort of folded up, and I ended up taking the brunt of the impact on my right cheek. Left foot was to the outside of my left hip, wrenching my knee.

I thought I was fine. Skated a few more laps then got out of my gear, walked to the car under my own power & drove home. My aft region was sore getting out of the car, and my knee felt funky but it wasn't painful... until 2:30am when I apparently tried to turn over, causing a shooting pain to jolt me out of a sound sleep. Kept me awake until about 5:30am.

Knee is currently wrapped with an icepack on it. Other icepack is under my bruised butt. Don't want to go to the doctor only to hear, "Wrap it, ice it, take some anti-inflammatories and keep it immobile." That's a waste of money. If it doesn't improve I will go, of course.

Whee.

If I haven't made mention of it before, I'm a horrible patient. Pain makes me cranky. Being unable to accomplish simple tasks like showering, putting on pants or getting documents from the printer without causing myself some anguish makes me particularly cranky.

Yep, it's a Monday.

I had a list of happy-making things to share, but the weekend schedule got the better of me. Maybe I'll post them tonight. Wish I had something stronger than Tylenol PM... *le sigh*
