A couple more fun vignettes portraying life for the residents of the House of Doors on the first day of the calendar year...

Him (noticing sign at the Ft. Worth zoo that reads, "Elephants!"): So now we get to see Elephants! The Musical?

Me: *bwaaaa ha ha ha!*

Me: When we get home, I gotta remember to make the Texas Caviar so we can eat our black eyed peas. *pause* I wonder if it counts if we just listen to the Black Eyed Peas?

Him: Only if they covered New Year's Day.

Me: *bwaaaa ha ha ha!*

Him: *playing up his East Texas drawl* Ooooh, faincy!

Me: Huh? They're flannel.

Him: Like I said, FAINCY!

Me: o_O

Him: *sprawled on my side of the bed*

Me: Gah! Are you trying to make me crazy on purpose?!?

Him: No, I'm warming up your side of the bed.

Me: *melts into puddle of schmooble*

Me: *gets into bed*

Him: *ooches over and snuggles me*

Me: *purrs*

Him: *singing* "Elvira! Elvira! My heeaaaart's on fire for Elvira!"

Me: o_O

Him: I'm serenading you!

Me: Uh......

Him: But a serenade should be something Italian. What other Italian songs are there besides that one about the moon looking like pizza pie?

Me: Well, there's—never mind, I am not going to encourage you to attempt opera. You'll hurt yourself. And myself.

Him: Harumph.

So… work blocked LJ again and it looks like this time it's personal. Unfortunately, LJgate is "temporary unavailable" according to their site. And I can't seem to find an app for my phone since it's not a nifty iPhone (or -esque) type gadget. *le sigh*

Until I find a solution, I will do my best to keep up with you, my virtual tribe. I miss you all collectively and many of you individually and up close and personally… more than you may ever know.

All that aside, my world is chugging right along. Took my first vacation of substance (i.e., more than a long weekend) in… gosh, I haven't a clue how long. At least 5 years, probably more. arbiter_of_cool and I took Rondo Calrissian on its first cross-country road trip home to Michigan. Short version? Beautiful. Bittersweet. Relaxing.

Long version? ( Read on, MacDuff! )

So our first road trip and impromptu celebration of 3 years together is done: 3,500 miles over 7 states to see 3 Great Lakes in 11 days and we still like each other. I introduced him to regional food favorites like Vernor's ginger ale and pasties. (He did try my whitefish once, but since fish is generally not his thing… well, all the more for me!)

However, he sorely tested me come Tuesday morning when he said, "Oh, I took today off, too," and rolled over once again. Bah.

Since getting home there's been work, more work, laundry, more laundry, MOAR laundry, and a Sunday spent in the studio with QAL. Note to self: never. EVER. listen to raw audio. EVAR! I cooked some, too, since the cold, gray weather invoked my inner Betty Crocker with a vengeance. Plus, it's a nice way to ground myself as I process the experience.

Majestic morning. Crisp air tinged with chill, clear skies... if only I had cider... *le sigh*

Depending on how soon source content is provided to me, may be working tomorrow. OT $ = yay! Cutting into work-on-my-ass-groove time? Not so much.

Feeling fine and sassy. Tie-dyed maxi dress (eBay yay!), cropped denim jacket, Crocs Sassari peep-toe wedges of comfy-footed joy... yeah, today I am feeling the boho hotness.

Managed to wear a "real" bra, but deciding that while my skin is healed enough to handle an underwire, I. Just. Don't. Want. To. Anymore. I am perfectly happy with my stash of sports bras, thankyew very much. My girls have been through quite enough this year. No mas!

Inexplicable craving for beef fajitas at La Hacienda Ranch. OK, they're the bestest EVAR and I am starvacious. Maybe not so inexplicable?

Loving my Roku Netflix player as we can also use it for Amazon On Demand. So when the satellite goes weather wonky, we're not SOL weeks after the fact. (Can't access Hulu via Wii Internet channel, and don't want to cram around a sad little laptop; AOD is a great solution.) This should be particularly happy-making for the Boswells when it comes time for House Party. In related news, Glee = Glee!!!

Left the bedroom door open last night to keep breezes circulating, which meant that I didn't hear it open to tell me that arbiter_of_cool was coming in to kiss me goodbye this morning. Fortunately for him, my brain processed the situation after causing me to gasp in terror but before said terror could impel me to grab the maglite kept close-at-hand for emergencies. Brainular bashing was avoided, though we had a bladderical near-miss—mine, not his unless he saw my reflexive reach toward where the aforementioned maglite is kept... sorry, baby! (Yes, I'm using technical medical terms here.) :P

New Dollhouse tonight!!!!

EDIT: Sammich w/12 grain bread FTW! And I have orange toenails. This is all to the good.

I know we've only known each other four weeks and three days, but to me it seems like nine weeks and five days. The first day seemed like a week and the second day seemed like five days. And the third day seemed like a week again and the fourth day seemed like eight days. And the fifth day you went to see your mother and that seemed just like a day, and then you came back and later on the sixth day, in the evening, when we saw each other...

... at this point, arbiter_of_cool looks at me pointedly.

Me: *giggling* If you did that, I would punch you.

Him: Good thing you're a sound sleeper.

Me: *dies laughing*

Yeah, I think I'll keep him.
