Drive-By Wrenching
May. 24th, 2005 02:55 pmSorry... life went *kablooey* and I haven't been online to check on you lot. Probably won't have time to scroll back over 500+ posts and check in either... so fill me in, wouldja? What's happening in your world? Inquiring kittens need to know.
As for me, here's the quick version:
Work got busy. Deadline on a project moved up a month to have it ready for a national operations meeting. Got everything in just under the wire (after lots of working lunches at my desk and quite a few extra hours). Too bad they only needed a draft, really, and not the finished product. But at least it's OK that the printer can't meet the delivery date because of other items added to the order after content has been approved. Summary: another fire drill making my stomach acid churn... but at least it was a 2-week fire drill, though, and not a year long one like SSPH.
Derby got busy. Debut was Sunday. Good thing I wasn't skating 'cuz I had press releases to distribute, interviews to schedule, web content to create... but the event went amazingly well. Final headcount was almost 500. The girls looked FANTASTIC. Not an ass in attendance wasn't kicked. Bands were great, production wasn't seamless but you couldn't tell it by watching the crowd. After-party? Kickin'. I'm so proud and pleased.
Big news as to our next bout - new date is June 19th. Jessie from KDGE is tight with The Fags who just signed with Warner Brothers. Instead of booking the Galaxy Club, she got them to agree to play for us for a phenomenally cheap amount. Ree! Summary? We get a national act as a draw and free advertising on a popular radio station. We also have to double up our timeline for fundraising and planning the next bout (we were originally thinking late July). Ree! and Ack! and Ree! again.
Faire is good. Did I get heat exhaustion? Yes. Did I drink enough water/gatorade? Yes? Did I eat? Yes. Am I OK now? Yes. It happens. Boo. Missed the last two shows on Saturday. Freaked out when I saw![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
bookwench getting hauled into the cooler with the rest of us victims. Hope you are recovering well, luv. Trying to learn my verses for the All Chandler's Wife Show. We also have 3-4 new versions of the song.
Looks like Copper will be on her honeymoon when we're at Great Lakes Medieval Festival (4th of July weekend in Cleveland for those interested) so I have to buckle down after faire gets out to make sure I'm able to cover her part.
In summary, it's been all about derby and faire. I will get a short reprieve (sort of) in early June and then it starts all over again until July.
So much for sleeping through June.
