sandmansister: (Derby; Hell's Kitten)
Not sure of final headcount, but from the look of it we beat our debut (477 paid admissions). The bands were awesome (The Fags are from Detroit and just signed with Sire Records), and I had ALL the skaters tell me that QAL did an unsurprisingly great job on the National Anthem (especially because [livejournal.com profile] divalace sang my part with me - whee and thanks)! Made'n Texas even got misty when she told me how inspirational she found it.

The production was tighter than last time, and the girls skated more aggressively. Still a high score (not as much defense), but it came down to the LAST JAM with a 1 point difference. The Horns, who got blown out of the water last bout (but did score over 100 points in the 2nd half), were out for blood and lead the entire 2nd half, but the Tails came back and beat them by 2 points in the last jam. It was AMAZING.

After-party? A blowout as usual. You just had to be there. ;-)

I took off work because I knew with tearing down the track & clean up, the aforementioned party, not to mention the hour drive home... ooof, I would need the recovery time. Plus, today is my mommy's birfday. Going up to Lake Texoma to frolic in the woods. Dad's getting the boat out. Yay! Will visit the donkeys, of course.

All this on the heels of a busy Saturday... parents came in to visit and pick up my 2nd cousin (their grand-nephew) from the airport. He's visiting from Grand Rapids for the week. My sister came in too - yay! Haven't seen her in months. We had lunch together and then mom & I ran errands and did some tag-team cleaning downstairs. Yay for help & inspiration on that front.

Had a marvelous time at the housewarming bash for [livejournal.com profile] kymberlynn and WineShark. Gee, the other half of their beautiful duplex is available... hmmmm. That would be a shame... :P

And yes, I took tomorrow off too... so I could actually have some semblance of a weekend break. Need to undo the frazzle of the last few weeks with fun and down time. This coming weekend? I *might* do a movie with [livejournal.com profile] buffalobills as it's been too long since we've seen each other. Other than that? I fall down.

With that, I have to get myself together to hit the road.
