Made it through my first bout without making too much of an ass of myself. I think I still have a looooong way to go to be a primo blocker but acquitted myself admirably considering I had all of 1 scrimmage under my belt before playing for real.

But for the Only I Could Manage ThisTM file, I hurt myself on the victory lap. (Yes, the Hotties won. w00t!) See, we were skating on a sport court and it's a bit faster than a regular wood floor. I was all juiced up from the win and got a little too fast for myself on the corner. Realized I was going to wipe out so thought I'd make it spectacular... opted for baseball-style slide in which I traveled several feet. Except I somehow managed to completely lose a toe stop (not sure if that was before or after the fall)... and I hit my ribs when I landed. HARD.

Yeah, I managed to do my worst injury to myself -- on the freakin' victory lap.

S-M-R-T. D'Oh!

Ribs are still feeling tender and sore. But at least I'm distracted from the few smaller bruises on my knees and arms. (Now I see what that psychic meant when he called me "pessmimistic to the point of optimism." Hmmmm.) Looking forward to Dr. Steve tomorrow. Then of course will come home to more boxes and promptly get myself knotted up again. LOL

In other news, I am starting to get settled in the new digs. Haven't unpacked much. Been spending time assembling new shelves etc. so that the things being unpacked will have a place to live. Put together a new wine rack, small cabinet, 7' bookshelf and got the desk/hutch halfway done. Black & Decker 6v drill/screwdriver is my new bestest friend. EVUH.

Haven't even touched the kitchen yet. It's getting ugly... but must have the office/music room together before QAL descends on my house Thursday for rehearsal. For all of that, it's starting to look like a home. A bit. If you squint and ignore the 20-30 additional boxes lying in wait in the garage.
