Skate *squeeee!*

Love LOVE LOVE our new rink. It's a nicer facility and the rink floor? Oodles better (and no evil step down so I don't have to fear for my ankle anymore,
middnightclear)! It's more centrally located to Dallas residents so we'll have a better draw at bouts (Irving just north of Lone Star Park & Nokia Live instead of Haltom City/NE Ft. Worth). It's also lots closer for me personally, and will be even better when I move. I used to drive an hour to practice. Midcities Skatium is only 25-30 minutes from the new (still pending) digs. w00t!
In other skate news, my lower back hurts when I skate. It did when I first started, then I got more stable & centered my weight; it stopped. I feel fairly stable now (though my cross-overs are still sporadic & a little sloppy), but I've been skating harder at the last couple of practices due in large part to our newdrill sargeant trainer, Razen Kane. Here's hoping it's just from pushing myself 'cuz otherwise I have to shift my balance AGAIN and re-learn a lot and that would just suck.
Kane is seriously kicking our asses. No big surprise - she couldn't decide if she wanted to be a Dallas Diamond (women's football) or play derby. Oooof. I'm just glad she's on my team 'cuz I don't want to take a hit from her!
Still, I feel pretty good (sweaty, but good). It's probably the post-skate adrenaline rush (which may also explain the increased "bob and weave" factor in my drive home). I'm sure I will change my tuneif when I get out of bed tomorrow.
