Step 1: Put your media player on random.
Step 2: Pick your favorite lines from the first 25 songs that play.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song the lines come from. (Bonus points for title *and* artist)
Step 4: Cross out the songs when someone guesses correctly.

NOTE: Had to skip a couple as my media player selected classical pieces or ambient music with no words... so here are the songs with discernable lyrics:

1.) Wind on my face, sound in my ears/ Water from my eyes and you on my mind/As I sink, diving down deep... deeper into your soul [livejournal.com profile] katjabee recognized "Buffalo Stance" by Neneh Cherry

2.) I was in a car crash or was it the war, but I've never been quite the same "Down in the Park" - [livejournal.com profile] hellocobweb got this one and the original artist (Gary Numan), though the version my player chose was a cover by the Foo Fighters on an X-Files inspired compilation

3.) Shall I stay here at the zoo, or should I go and change my point of view for other ugly scenes?

4.) You turned me loose, then you turned me wrong "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" by The Gap Band, correctly identified by [livejournal.com profile] lord_darkseid

5.) When your pride is on the floor I'll make you beg for more "Stay" by Shakespeare's Sister, duly noted by [livejournal.com profile] cawti

6.) Everyday I fight a war against the mirror/ I can't take the person starin' back at me Score another for [livejournal.com profile] katjabee for getting Pink's "Don't Let Me Get Me"

7.) My mind's been going places without me lately "Bushfire" by the B-52s (as noted by [livejournal.com profile] katjabee)

8.) I remember the fashion but don't have a clue

9.) The sunsets were purple and red and yellow and on fire and the clouds would catch the color... "Little Fluffy Clouds" - another identified by [livejournal.com profile] hellocobweb. It's by Orbital.

10.) I need to swing from limb to limb to relieve this mess I'm in

11.) Oh dat skinny blonde girl/ somethin' about the ages... [livejournal.com profile] katjabee recognized this as a Strong Bad rendering, but I'll hold off on the song title for now 'cuz I'm sure one of you cheeky monkeys know it...

12.) I celebrate the body and enjoy good health, and I gets down with my bad self

13.) And I'm turning to the horoscope and looking for the funnies when I'm feeling someone watching me and so I raise my head Go fig, [livejournal.com profile] katjabee is nailing the funkier tunes on this list - this is "Tom's Diner" by Suzanne Vega with DNA

14.) There's no pain and there's no pressure, no humiliation/ there's no fear and there's no shame

15.) There's madness, to see that there's no gain takes control of my brain

16.) I've got somethin' called love, yeah somethin' called love/ well that's just like hypnotizing chickens "Lust for Life" by Iggy Pop, correctly identified by [livejournal.com profile] mesniu

17.) I was born the day I met you, lived awhile when you loved me, died a little when we broke apart

18.) Paint it black inside your head, I defy what you have said "Iron Head" - Rob Zombie with Ozzy Osbourne, as correctly identified by [livejournal.com profile] txwhiterose

19.) I play it off, but I'm dreaming of you; I'll keep my cool, but I'm fiendin' "I Try" by Macy Gray, compliments of [livejournal.com profile] koyote19

20.) Freeze! Shoot to kill or die!

21.) Don't run away, it's only me "Dead Man's Party" thanks to [livejournal.com profile] koyote19 (though the artist my player selected wasn't the original by Oingo Boingo)

22.) I know you (I swear I do), you're just like me, you're sipping a cup of dreams, yeah

23.) The curtains flew then he appeared saying, "Don't be afraid" (Come on baby) and she had no fear/ And she ran to him, then they started to fly (Don't Fear) The Reaper - [livejournal.com profile] koyote19 got this one too, though again my player selected the oontz cover version instead of Blue Oyster Cult's original

24.) I'd like to eat her like ice cream, maybe dip her in chocolate "Hey Mister" by Custom, another one for [livejournal.com profile] cawti!

25.) And it may seem selfish now, but I'll hold on to the memory until all this fear is washed away "Do You Believe in Shame?" by Duran Duran, correctly identified by [livejournal.com profile] florilegia

You're right on all the titles, of course, but 2 of three were actually covers (swiped from an excellent collection I ripped from [livejournal.com profile] cluegirl

You are correct, sir! Nicely done on #9 ! Though the first was actually a Foo Fighters cover that appeared on "Songs in the Key of X: Music From and Inspired by The X Files." But I do have two versions of Gary's original also ripped, so it's a red herring, really.

Iggy Pop: "Lust For Life."

I think it's totally hee-i-larious that Carnival Cruise Lines uses this song in their ad campaign, carefully editing out the passages referring to sex and kicking heroin.
