Because I desperately need to see progress in black and white as I drown in a sea of cardboard, intoxicated by the smell of wicked giant black markers...

No, I didn't get the Tuesday items done. Worked late tonight; would have been v. late to skate practice. Opted instead to write the press release for our derby bout as it's just over two weeks out (arglebargle! arglebarg!). Also forgot about laundry started over the weekend. Had to dry a washed load before it mildewed, and finish the last one.

Maybe I can get to an open skate on Saturday after repacking storage and before the bachelorette party... last day to qualify for the bout is Sunday. Mneh.

Please think non-jury selection thoughts for me tomorrow...

Okay, the last thing you need is to be preached at, so please just treat this as a general observation, not a personal attack of any form....

If all the smart people who are smart enough to get themselves out of jury duty manage to do so, the only people serving on juries are those people who aren't smart enough to get themselves out of jury duty. Then, it's no wonder that our legal system turns out stupid results.

How about I think short-trial thoughts, instead?

Normally I'd agree (and thanks for the vote of confidence in my abilities), but for the sake of my job I hope I don't get chosen. I got pulled off my other projects to assist on a high priority. I have a piece, for which I received the source materials yesterday, due Friday, and there's another one fast on its heels. The project timeline leaves very little buffer for things to fall behind.

'Cuz clearly what I need right now is for everything in my life to hit critical mass at once... :/

I wish I could get summoned for jury duty... perhaps a long, long trial, non-sequestered, so I can have a break from my hated job.
    Good luck, either way.

um... I served on a jury. Not because I wasn't "smart enough" to get out of it, but because ... why not. I did it because I'd never done it before.

I never said that everyone who serves on a jury is stupid. If you think I was trying to insult you, please reread my post.
I was making the point that people shouldn't try to get out of jury duty just because they can.
I plan to try to serve on a jury every time I'm summoned for jury duty. So far, I've been dismissed every time. Maybe it's the way I look.

I knew that comment was a mistake as soon as I hit the Post button. I know what you were trying to say, I just didn't care for the wording of the second half of that sentence.

And no, I didn't think you were trying to insult me. I have no words to use for a coherent reply, my migraine has obviously completely distorted my reading comprehension and writing ability. Just forget I ever posted anything, I should have just kept my f-ing fingers to myself.
